Our Layered Digital Student Safety Model

Cushing Public Schools is committed to cultivating a digital environment that is safe, supportive, and resilient. This framework reflects our intentional, layered approach to protecting student safety and well-being.

Cushing Public Schools layered digital student safety model with five rings and a central core labeled Student Safety & Well-Being.
Each layer functions independently yet strengthens the whole. This is not about surveillance; it is about stewardship.

Core – Student Safety & Well-Being

Every layer surrounds and strengthens our central purpose: protecting the safety, dignity, and well-being of every student. Together, these layers form a cohesive and highly supportive system rooted in care, responsibility, and partnership — because at the heart of public education, it’s all about the kids.

Layer 1: Content Safeguards | Classroom Visibility

Structured safeguards help maintain a focused, appropriate learning environment. These tools support teachers in guiding instruction and work to reduce exposure to harmful or distracting content while students use school-managed devices. While no system can eliminate risk entirely, layered safeguards significantly reduce exposure and strengthen digital responsibility.

Layer 2: AI Monitoring | Early Awareness

Technology assists in identifying patterns that may indicate a student could benefit from support. AI tools can analyze information at a speed and scale that would not be possible manually, helping surface concerning phrasing, trends, or behaviors that may require attention. Monitoring applies only to school-managed devices and accounts and is designed to promote proactive, caring support — not punishment.

Layer 3: Around-the-Clock Care | Responsive Support

Serious alerts are reviewed by trained professionals who evaluate context and determine appropriate next steps. When concerns require attention, school personnel are contacted to ensure timely support. This layer is centered on care and thoughtful response — not automatic reaction. When necessary, we work with families and community resources to ensure students receive the right help, at the right time.

Linewize Monitor (24/7 Safety Support)

Alerts are reviewed for context and escalated when appropriate so school personnel can provide timely support.

This service focuses on serious safety risks. If there is an immediate emergency, call 911.

Layer 4: Parent Partnership | Family Support Tools

Families are essential partners in supporting safe and responsible technology use. Parent tools and resources provide meaningful insight into a child’s online activity — not simply a list of websites, but a clearer understanding of patterns, interests, and potential concerns. This visibility is designed to strengthen communication, encourage guidance at home, and enrich the connection between school and family.

Layer 5: See Something. Say Something. | Safe Reporting

Students and families have safe, age-appropriate ways to share concerns. Older students may report directly, while younger students are supported by trusted adults. Reporting is designed to be confidential, supportive, and focused on getting help — not assigning blame.
